Betula / Birch
Betula albo-sinensis / Chinese Red Birch
A fine example of a birch, this medium sized tree has pinkish to coppery-red and cream bark when first exposed. Green foliage turning yellow in the Autumn.
Betula pendula / Silver Birch
A deciduous, conical tree with peeling white bark. This becomes marked with dark rugged cracks at the base. The dark green leaves turn yellow in th autumn. Has yellow-brown catkins in the spring.
Betula pendula 'Youngii' / Young's Weeping Birch
Young's Weeping Birch. A deciduous, dome shaped tree with pendulous branches and peeling white bark. The dark green leave turn yellow in the autumn. Has yellow-brown catkins in the spring.
Betula nigra / River Birch
If you have a wet garden then this is the birch for you. This medium to large tree has pinkish-brown bark that exfoliates in masses of papery scales. This is the one birch that enjoys a wet soil! We also do another variety which is Betula nigra Summer Cascade which has a slightly pendulous form with the same qualities as Betula nigra.

A very graceful, weeping form of Birch. Has exfoliating silver pink bark.
Betula utilis var. jacquemontii / Himalayan Birch
A very popular tree due to its architectural shape and bright white bark. It is often planted in groups of three. Multi-stem varieties are effective.
Betula pubescens / Downy Birch
A deciduous, conical tree with pendulous branches, downy stems and peeling white bark. The diamond-shaped green leaves turn yellow in the autumn. Has yellow-brown catkins in the spring.
Betula utilis 'Snow Queen'
This tree produces a brilliant white stem after two years. It also has good yellow autumn colour.
