This prized tree is much loved for its rounded habit and unusual flowering which comes in early summer with purplish-pink pea like clusters which sit along the branches even if well pruned.

This recent variety of Red Bud is a simply lovely small tree.  It has deep, very glossy green leaves.  The flowers are purple-pink and, as with Judas trees, cover the bare stems in early spring.
