It thrives in fertile sandy loams, but can adopt to poor soils as long as they are well-drained. It doesn’t like marshy or waterlogged soils. It grows best in full sun and requires little maintenance. Once established, it is drought resistant. Cotoneaster 'Cornubia', with its semi-evergreen leaves and long-lasting berries, can be a perfect accent plant in winter gardens.
