Hibiscus syriacus or Rose of Sharon 'Admiral Dewey' is a vigorous, exotic-looking, medium-sized, upright, deciduous shrub with green, lobed leaves. Profusion of beautiful, large, funnel-shaped, pure white, double flowers, often with maroon throat, bloom in summer and early autumn. Hibiscus syriacus 'Admiral Dewey' is tolerant of most soil types, even poor ones, but prefers fertile, organically rich, slightly alkaline, moist, well-drained soils in warm, sunny locations. It needs long, hot summers to flower well. Once established, resistant to drought. Very resilient plant, tolerant of heat, humidity, coastal and urban conditions. No serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal pruning. Rose of Sharon 'Admiral Dewey' is a wonderful, exotic-looking shrub, extremely easy to grow. It flowers abundantly with very little care and is perfect for shrub or mixed borders, foundation plantings, and informal hedges and screens. Great for wall-side borders, trellises, and for growing in containers. Suitable for cottage, urban, and coastal gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
