The slender leaves have finely toothed edges and a blue-green colouring, creating a striking fountain-like structure that provides year-round visual interest in the garden.\n\nAs the plant matures, it develops a thick, trunk-like base covered in old leaf remnants, giving it a distinctive sculptural appearance that becomes more pronounced with age. This trunk formation adds textural contrast and a bold architectural statement to planting schemes.\n\nMature specimens may produce tall flower spikes bearing small cream or white flowers, rising well above the foliage during summer months, though flowering is infrequent and typically occurs only on well-established plants.\n\nThis plant is particularly well suited to Mediterranean-style and drought-tolerant gardens, thriving in free-draining soil and full sun positions. It copes well with coastal conditions, tolerating salt-laden winds and exposed sites. Once established, it demonstrates excellent drought resistance, making it ideal for low-maintenance landscaping and xeriscaping projects where reduced irrigation is desirable. It performs poorly in heavy clay or waterlogged soils, requiring sharp drainage to prevent root rot. Its sculptural form makes it an effective focal point in gravel gardens, raised beds, or large containers on patios and terraces.","brand":"Arundel Arboretum","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57489977999738,"sku":"DASY-LONG-ME60-10","price":94.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9130\/4688\/files\/dasylirion_longissimum_-_mediterranean_palms_grasses_-_60-80cm_HJ44DU.jpg?v=1793787969","url":"https:\/\/www.arundelarboretum.co.uk\/products\/mexican-grass-tree-dasylirion-longissimum-height-60-80cm-width-30-40cm-10lt","provider":"Arundel Arboretum","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
