Sorbus aria 'Mitchellii' is a medium-sized, deciduous tree of compact, rounded habit, with broadly-rounded, dark green leaves, white underneath, and white-hairy when young, yellow and bronze in autumn. Clusters of creamy-white flowers bloom in May and June and are followed by reddish brown berries in autumn. Attractive to birds and bees. Tibetan whitebeam 'John Mitchell' grows best in moderately fertile, clay, loamy, and sand soil, slightly acidic, moist and well-drained, in full sun or partial shade. It is resistant to frost, wind, exposed positions, and urban pollution. Low maintenance plant, naturally neat, doesn’t require pruning. Sorbus aria 'Mitchellii', with its silvery green leaves, lovely flowers and interesting fruits, is a very decorative tree, undemanding tree, perfect for any cottage, wildlife, and urban garden. Perfect as a specimen or accent plant. Great for growing in urban areas - streets and parks. Suitable for growing in containers on patios and roof gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
