Acer palmatum Dissectum ‘Viridis’ is a small, often multi-stemmed, rounded, mound forming Japanese maple with cascading, elegantly twisted branches and feathery, lace-like, palmate, deeply dissected, bright green leaves, golden-yellow and crimson in autumn. Small, reddish flowers bloom in spring and are followed by greenish samaras in early autumn. Japanese maple 'Viridis' grows best in fertile, organically rich, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils, in full sun or partial shade. Best leaf colour is achieved in partial shade. It is susceptible to leaf scorch in full sun or dry areas. It is resistant to frost, but needs to be protected from strong winds and late spring frosts. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning. Acer palmatum Dissectum ‘Viridis’ is exceptionally looking, ornamental tree, perfect as a specimen or accent plant in informal, cottage, urban, or gravel and rock gardens. Great for beds and borders. Excellent to be planted near a pond or water garden. Very suitable for growing in containers.
