Cupressus sempervirens 'Pyramidalis' is an elegant, slender, vigorous, coniferous, narrowly columnar, evergreen tree with dense, thin, almost pencil-like habit, short sprays of aromatic, dark-green, scale-like leaves on erect branches, and rounded cones. Cupressus sempervirens 'Pyramidalis' is tolerant of moist soil types, but prefers well-drained sandy loams in full sun. It likes plenty of direct sun, but needs to be protected from harsh winds. Once established, it is tolerant of drought. Mediterranean plant, it thrives in coastal conditions. Tolerant of urban pollution. No serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Italian cypress 'Pyramidalis' is unknown to the wild, but has been grown in Italian classic gardens since Renaissance times. It’s an elegant, beautiful, architectural tree, stunning when planted in groups or rows. Excellent as a specimen or accent plant. Great-looking when planted in pairs in front the entrances. Good for hedges and screens and suitable for growing in containers.
