Euonymus japonicus 'Aureopictus' is a popular evergreen shrub that is commonly grown for its attractive foliage. It is native to Japan and Korea and is a member of the Celastraceae family. The plant has a dense and bushy growth habit, with a rounded shape that can reach up to 6 feet tall and wide. The most striking feature of Euonymus japonicus 'Aureopictus' is its variegated leaves. The glossy, dark green leaves have a broad yellow margin, which gives the plant its common name of 'Golden Euonymus'. The variegation is very stable, and the plant is known to hold its color well throughout the year. In autumn, the foliage may take on a reddish tinge, adding to its beauty. In late spring or early summer, Euonymus japonicus 'Aureopictus' produces small, inconspicuous greenish-white flowers. These are followed by fleshy pink or red fruit capsules, which eventually split open to reveal orange-red seeds. These seeds are highly attractive to birds and can help to bring wildlife to your garden.
