Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' is a dwarf, low-growing, clumping, ornamental, semi-evergreen grass with beautiful, icy-blue foliage that forms dome-shaped tufts of sliky-looking leaves. The panicles of light green flowers, that turn light tan as they mature, rise above the foliage in spring and summer and are followed by seed heads. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' grows best in poor, moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun. It doesn’t like wet, waterlogged soils. It is semi-evergreen, retains colour in mild winters but becomes brown in harsh winters. It is short-lived and needs frequent division. Once established, it is drought tolerant. Low maintenance plant. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' is one of the best Blue fescuses, very ornamental, with a superb colour. Great as a ground cover, for beds and borders, edging, and growing in containers. Perfect for informal, cottage, urban, rock, and Mediterranean gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
