Hypericum x hidcoteense 'Hidcote' is a beautiful, spreading, compact, dense, semi-evergreen shrub with numerous slender, reddish stems and tidy, narrowly ovate, blue-green leaves. Large, cup-shaped, 5-petal, waxy, golden yellow flowers with golden stamens and orange anthers bloom in summer and autumn. They are followed by bright-red, oval fruits. Hypericum x hidcoteense 'Hidcote' can grow in a wide variety of soils, including rocky and sandy, but prefers average, moist and well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun to partial shade. Tolerant of drought, maritime exposure, and cold, but in colder climates it dies to the ground in winter. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant. This hybrid is one of the most popular and resilient Hypericums. It is great as an accent plant, in shrub borders and mixed borders, banks and slopes, or as a lovely, flowering, low hedge or screen. It mixes well with herbaceous perennials. Perfect for cottage, coastal, and urban gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
