Hypericum x hidcoteense 'Hidcote' is a beautiful, spreading, compact, dense, semi-evergreen shrub with numerous slender, reddish stems and tidy, narrowly ovate, blue-green leaves. Large, cup-shaped, 5-petal, waxy, golden yellow flowers with golden stamens and orange anthers bloom in summer and autumn. They are followed by bright-red, oval fruits. Hypericum x hidcoteense 'Hidcote' can grow in a wide variety of soils, including rocky and sandy, but prefers average, moist and well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun to partial shade. Tolerant of drought, maritime exposure, and cold, but in colder climates it dies to the ground in winter. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant.
