Malus ‘Red Jade’ is a small, deciduous tree with broad weeping crown, elegant, slender, pendulous branches, and glossy, green leaves, yellow in autumn. The abundance of fragrant, white to pale pink flowers open from pink buds and bloom in clusters in April and May. Flowers are followed by masses of small, glossy, bright red fruits that ripe in autumn and persist on bare branches during the winter. Weeping Crab Apple can grow well in a wide range of soils, but prefers fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun, but tolerates partial shade. Once established, it is resistant to drought. It can withstand frost, wind, and urban pollution. Low maintenance plant. Attractive to birds and bees. Malus ‘Red Jade’ is an elegant, weeping, ornamental tree, perfect as a specimen plant for small, informal, cottage, and urban gardens. Great for growing in containers. Fruits can be used for making jams and jellies.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
