Prunus domestica 'Oullins Gage' is a compact, bushy, deciduous fruiting tree with ovate, bright green leaves, and white, sometimes pink-tinged, semi-double flowers. Flowers are followed by large, round, green-yellow dessert gages, with faint red dots and deliciously sweet golden-yellow flesh. The fruit is large, more like a gage-like plum than true gage, attractive and with exquisite flavour, ready for harvesting in late summer. Prunus domestica 'Oullins Gage' is a self-pollinating tree, attractive to bees, butterflies, and birds, but for the better quality of crops, it is good to have another pollinator nearby. It thrives in fertile, neutral, loamy, moist, well-drained soils in full sun. It needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Late frosts may damage the flower buds. Low maintenance plant. Prunus domestica 'Oullins Gage' is an excellent plant for informal and cottage gardens. It is suitable for all training forms. Its fruit can be eaten fresh and used in cooking, especially for preparation of desserts.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
