Rhaphiolepis umbellate is a small, compact, evergreen shrub of dense, rounded habit, with leathery, glossy dark green leaves, grey-green when they emerge, and clusters of fragrant, crabapple-like, white to light pink flowers blooming in spring. Flowers are followed by decorative, blue-black berries. Rhaphiolepis umbellate, or Yeddo Hawthorn, can grow in a wide range of soils, but prefers moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soils in full sun. It tolerates light shade, but best flowering occurs in full sun. Once established, resistant to drought. It can withstand frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh and drying winds. Tolerant of coastal conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Yeddo Hawthorn is an easy to grow, very reliable and long-lived plant with beautiful, fragrant flowers. Excellent as a specimen plant or planted in masses. Great for mixed and shrub borders, as well as, informal hedges and screens. Suitable for coastal, Mediterranean, and cottage gardens.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
