Attractive, silvery-grey catkins emerge in spring along the leaves. Elegant and attractive ornamental tree. Salix purpurea 'Pendula' thrives in damp spots in full sun and enjoys being planted near water. It is adaptable to a wide range of soils, except shallow and chalky. It grows well in both moist but well-drained and poorly drained soils. It is resistant to frost but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning.
