Escallonia 'Red Dream’ is a small, compact, low-growing, bushy, evergreen shrub with small, ovate, leathery, glossy, dark green leaves. Clusters of rosy-red, tubular flowers bloom in summer and autumn and are attractive to bees and other pollinators. Escallonia 'Red Dream’ can adapt to a wide range of soils, but grow best in medium moisture, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun, but is tolerant of partial shade. It is resistant to heat and salty air, therefore, perfect for coastal areas. It has to be protected from cold, drying winds. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Escallonia 'Red Dream’ is a lovely, easy to grow shrub, perfect for oceanic and Mediterranean climate. Great for beds and borders or planted in masses as a ground cover. Excellent for informal, flowering hedges and screens. Good as a windbreak in coastal areas. Suitable for growing in pots and containers on patios, balconies, or roof gardens.
