Salix elaeagnos - Shrub - Height 60-80cm - 10lt

Salix elaeagnos, commonly known as the olive willow, is a graceful and adaptable species of willow, valued for its elegant form and ability to thrive in challenging environments. This deciduous shrub or small tree can reach heights of 3–8 meters, developing slender, arching branches that give it a light and airy appearance. Its narrow, lance-shaped leaves are a distinctive feature, displaying a grey-green to silvery hue on their undersides, which shimmer attractively in the breeze and provide a subtle contrast to darker foliage in the landscape.

In spring, catkins appear before or alongside the leaves, adding seasonal interest and supporting early pollinators. Salix elaeagnos is extremely hardy and fast-growing, with a strong tolerance for poor soils, drought, and erosion-prone conditions. It is often found naturally along rivers, streams, and stony ground, where its deep and fibrous root system helps stabilize the soil.

Highly valued in ecological planting, it is an excellent choice for riverbank restoration, wildlife gardens, and naturalistic landscapes. Combining resilience with ornamental charm, Salix elaeagnos offers both beauty and practical benefits to a wide range of settings.
