Cupressus sempervirens ‘Totem’ is a tall, slender, compact, slow-growing coniferous evergreen tree with extremely narrow, columnar habit. Its dark green, scaly foliage remains dense and bushy all year round and is slightly fragrant in warm days. It originated as a seedling in New Zealand in 1984. Cupressus sempervirens ‘Totem’ can grow in any type of soil, as long as it is well-drained. It is not demanding, even prefers poor to average, unimproved soil. It thrives in full sun. It can withstand cold, even sub-zero temperatures, but needs to be protected from harsh winds. Very adaptable, generally pest-free and disease-free. It is tolerant of saltwater sprays and air pollution, therefore, suitable for coastal and urban areas. Cupressus sempervirens ‘Totem’ is a beautiful, elegant columnar, perfect for adding some height in a flat garden. It looks great as a stand-alone specimen plant, as well as, planted in groups or gathered in the garden border.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.
About Us
During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.
What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
