Dryopteris erythrosora 'Brilliance' is a robust, clump-forming, evergreen fern with arching stems and stunning triangular, bi-pinnate, vivid orange and coppery-red fronds in spring, turning glossy, dark green in summer, sometimes red again after first frosts. It produces bright red spores on its undersides in autumn. Dryopteris erythrosora 'Brilliance' is adaptable to a wide range of soils, but prefers fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in partial to full shade. It tends to be evergreen in climates with mild winters. In colder areas, it needs protection from harsh, drying winds. Its natural habitat are damp woodlands by streams and lakes. No serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning.
