Taxodium distichum is a long-lived, deciduous, coniferous tree of narrow pyramidal habit when young, broader as it matures, with reddish grooved bark, and distinctive, knobby root growths. Feathery, needle-like, light-green foliage is orange-brown in autumn, and small, green to brown, ovoid cones appear after flowering. Swamp Cypress is known for growing in a wide range of soil conditions, from dry soils to standing, swampy water. It prefers average, medium to wet, slightly acidic, sandy, well-drained soils. It is resistant to frost and can withstand floods and urban pollution. Resistant to wind and suitable for exposed positions. Very resilient tree, generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance, no pruning required. Taxodium distichum is a wonderful ornamental tree, tough and adaptable to various conditions. It is suitable for urban and industrial areas. Excellent as a specimen plant in parks and large lawns. Perfect for growing near water, even wet and swampy areas.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
