Osmanthus x burkwoodii is a dense, shrubby, rounded, slow-growing, flowering, evergreen shrub with small, ovate, finely toothed, glossy, dark green leaves. Small, highly fragrant, jasmine-like, white flowers bloom in clusters in late spring. Flowers are rarely followed by oval, black-purple fruits. Osmanthus x burkwoodii is very easy to grow. It is adaptable to a wide range of soils, but grows best in rich, moist, well-drained soils. It brings more flowers in full sun, but can easily grow in partial shade. Once established, tolerant of drought. It is resistant to frost and heat. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Burkwood Osmanthus is a hybrid between O. delavayi and O. decorusa. It’s a beautiful and tough plant suitable for informal, cottage, and woodland gardens. Excellent for flower beds, mixed and shrub borders. Great for banks and slopes for erosion control. Very effective for hedges and screens.

Pittosporum Tom Thumb is a compact evergreen shrub with a dense, rounded shape, making it well suited to small gardens and mixed borders. Its foliage is the standout feature, with small, glossy leaves that emerge fresh green before maturing to a deep, near-black purple, providing rich colour contrast throughout the year. The dense habit of the shrub means it can also be used effectively for low hedging or as a structural component within planting schemes.
In late spring, small, honey-scented, maroon flowers appear, tucked among the foliage. Though inconspicuous, they release a noticeable and pleasant fragrance that can perfume the surrounding air on warm days.
This shrub maintains its striking foliage colour year-round, offering consistent visual interest across all seasons, particularly valuable in winter when many other plants are dormant. Its compact, tidy growth habit requires minimal pruning to maintain shape, making it a low-maintenance choice for borders, containers, or as a small specimen shrub.
Pittosporum Tom Thumb performs best in a sheltered position with well-drained soil and benefits from protection against harsh, cold winds, making it a good choice for courtyard gardens or sheltered urban spaces.

Dappled willow is a deciduous shrub prized for its striking variegated foliage. New growth emerges in soft shades of pink and cream before maturing to green and white, creating a multi-toned effect across the canopy throughout the growing season. Leaves are small, lance-shaped and delicate in texture, giving the plant a light, airy appearance.
Often trained as a standard with a rounded, mop-head form, this shrub develops a dense, compact head of growth atop a slender stem, making it a popular choice for formal planting schemes, containers and small garden spaces. The twisting, flexible stems add further interest once leaves have fallen in autumn.
The plant is particularly attractive in spring, when the new pink-flushed foliage is at its most vivid, gradually softening to green and white variegation as summer progresses.
Small, inconspicuous catkins appear in spring before the leaves fully emerge. These provide an early source of nectar and pollen for bees and other pollinating insects at a time of year when little else is in flower, offering some benefit to garden biodiversity.
This shrub performs best in consistently moist, fertile soil and is well suited to damp or poorly drained areas of the garden, reflecting its willow heritage. It also adapts well to container growing, provided it is not allowed to dry out.
