Unit price perWisteria floribunda ‘Black Dragon’, also known as ‘Kokuryu’, is a striking and dramatic Japanese wisteria cultivar prized for its unusually dark, richly coloured blooms. Its flowers emerge in long, cascading racemes that can reach impressive lengths, often around 30–50 cm, creating a waterfall effect in late spring to early summer. The blossoms themselves are deep violet to purple-black, giving the plant its evocative name. Each flower has a velvety texture and a subtle, sweet fragrance that enhances its luxurious, almost mysterious presence in the garden.
As the plant matures, its twining stems develop a graceful, sculptural quality, weaving around pergolas, arches, and sturdy supports. The foliage is fresh green, pinnate, and lightly textured, providing a beautiful contrast to the dark flower clusters. In summer, the leaves create a soft, ornamental canopy, and in autumn they turn a gentle yellow before falling.
‘Black Dragon’ is an ideal choice for gardeners seeking a wisteria variety with depth, drama, and exceptional ornamental appeal. With proper pruning and training, it becomes a breathtaking focal point, offering a spectacular display that feels both elegant and enchantingly exotic in any landscape.

Unit price perWisteria ‘Iko Yama Fuli’ trained on an umbrella frame makes a stunning, space-efficient feature, ideal for adding height and structure to a garden without the need for walls or large pergolas. This deciduous climber produces graceful cascades of soft lilac to pale violet flowers in late spring, which hang elegantly from the umbrella-shaped framework, creating a striking floral canopy.
This form is particularly well suited to smaller gardens, patios, or formal planting schemes where controlled growth is essential. Positioned in full sun, it will flower more reliably and develop a dense, even canopy. It prefers fertile, well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered spot to protect emerging buds from late frosts.
An umbrella-trained wisteria requires regular maintenance to keep its shape and encourage flowering. Pruning should be carried out twice yearly, in summer and winter, to manage its vigorous growth and promote the formation of flowering spurs along the framework.
Once established, it becomes a long-lasting focal point, offering seasonal interest with its blooms followed by lush green foliage. Ideal for creating a statement in borders or as a standalone specimen, it combines ornamental beauty with practical structure in a wide range of garden styles.

Unit price perCotoneaster horizontalis, commonly known as rock cotoneaster or wall spray, is a species of flowering plant in the Rosaceae family. Native to parts of western China, it has become a popular choice in gardens and landscapes due to its hardiness and distinctive appearance.
This deciduous shrub grows in a herringbone pattern, with branches that spread horizontally, forming a low, dense, and attractive ground cover. Typically reaching heights of 0.5-1 metre and spreading up to 2 metres, Cotoneaster horizontalis is well-suited for rockeries, slopes, and as a ground cover for larger garden areas.
Note: Due to vigorous growth of the plant in the first year, its size may vary from 15 cm to 50 cm in width, depending on the season (it generally reaches around 50 cm towards autumn).
The small, glossy, oval-shaped leaves of Cotoneaster horizontalis turn a striking red or purple in the autumn, adding vibrant colour to the garden. In late spring to early summer, the plant produces tiny pinkish-white flowers. Though not particularly showy, these flowers are a valuable source of nectar for pollinators such as bees. It prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Additionally, it is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal pruning. However, it is advisable to trim back any excessively long or untidy branches to maintain its shape and encourage denser growth.
One concern with Cotoneaster horizontalis is its potential invasiveness. In some regions, it can spread beyond garden boundaries, particularly in areas with mild climates. As a result, gardeners should monitor its growth and manage its spread to prevent it from becoming a nuisance.
Overall, Cotoneaster horizontalis is a versatile and attractive plant, offering year-round interest with its foliage, flowers, and berries. It is an excellent choice for gardeners looking to add texture and colour to their landscapes.
