In April and May, it produces clusters of small, tubular white blooms that release a rich, sweet scent, often compared to jasmine, making it a standout feature in the garden.

This shrub is well suited to a wide range of garden settings, thriving in full sun or partial shade and preferring well-drained soil. It is particularly effective as a structural planting, forming a neat, rounded shape that works beautifully in borders, as low hedging, or as an informal screen. Its dark green, leathery leaves provide year-round interest and contrast well with softer planting.

Reaching approximately 2–3 metres in height and spread, Osmanthus × burkwoodii remains manageable and responds well to pruning, allowing it to be maintained at a desired size or shape.
