Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’, or Smoke Tree 'Royal Purple', is a large, compact, deciduous shrub with upright, open habit, and very attractive, rounded, almost translucent, leaves - marron-red in spring, deep purple in summer, and scarlet in autumn. Large, feathery, fluffy purplish-pink flower plumes appear in late spring and cover the whole shrub creating a smoke-like appearance. Smoke Tree 'Royal Purple' is very adaptable and tolerates almost all types of soils, even poor and rocky, as long as they are well-drained. It thrives in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils, in full sun or partial shade. Leaf colour is best in full sun. Once established, it is drought-tolerant. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Easy to transplant because of its fibrous root system. Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’ is perfect as an accent plant in cottage or meadow gardens or planted in a row as an informal hedge or shrub border. Suitable for growing in containers.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
