Cotoneaster 'Cornubia' is a semi-evergreen to evergreen tree, trained here as a three quarter standard with a broad, somewhat weeping habit as it matures. The foliage consists of long, dark green leaves that provide a dense backdrop throughout the year, with only partial leaf drop in colder winters. Small white flowers appear in early summer, held in clusters along the arching branches, followed by abundant large red berries that persist from autumn well into winter, often remaining on the tree after leaf fall. This heavy fruiting display gives the tree particular interest during the autumn and winter months, when the branches become laden with colour. The berries are a valuable food source for birds, particularly blackbirds and thrushes, making this tree a useful addition for gardens aiming to support wildlife through the colder months. The flowers also attract bees and other pollinating insects when in bloom. Cotoneaster 'Cornubia' is tolerant of a wide range of soil types, including clay, and copes well in both sunny and partially shaded positions. It is also suited to exposed or coastal gardens, being tolerant of wind. As a three quarter standard tree, it provides height and structure while maintaining the characteristic arching branch form typical of this cultivar.
