Hebe Donna is a compact, bushy, upright, long-flowering, evergreen shrub with small, glossy, dark green leaves, and long spikes of pink-purple to dark-blue flowers blooming in summer and autumn. Attractive to bees and butterflies. Hebe Donna will tolerate most soil types and conditions, but thrives in moderately fertile to poor, slightly alkaline, moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. It hates waterlogged and very heavy soils. It can withstand frost but needs to be sheltered from harsh winter winds. Tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal pruning, but cannot withstand hard pruning. Hebe Donna is a lovely, attractive, long-flowering shrub suitable for growing in informal, cottage, urban, and coastal gardens. Excellent for beds and borders, banks and slopes, and as a groundcover. Beautiful when grown in pots and containers on patios and balconies.
