Hebe is a compact, bushy, neat, mound-forming, evergreen shrub with lance-shaped, grey-green leaves, sometimes variegated or reddish-purple, and attractive purple, pink, blue, or white flowers blooming in summer.
Hebe is very easy to grow. It prefers poor to moderately fertile, slightly alkaline to neutral, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun or partial shade. It can withstand frost but needs to be sheltered from harsh, drying winter winds. Tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions. No serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal pruning.
Hebe is attractive and adaptable plant, perfect for informal, cottage, urban, and coastal gardens. Hebe's looks great in beds and borders, banks and slopes, or as a groundcover.
