Hibiscus syriacus 'Speciosus' is a compact, bushy, dense, upright, deciduous shrub with unique, shallowly lobed, toothed, dark green leaves and medium-sized, snow white, semi-double flowers with burgundy red centres, blooming abundantly in summer and early autumn. Attractive to bees and butterflies. Hibiscus syriacus 'Speciosus' thrives in fertile, organically rich, neutral, moist, well-drained soils in warm, sunny locations. It needs long, hot summers to flower well. Once established, resistant to drought. Very tough plant, tolerant of heat, humidity, coastal conditions and urban pollution. Resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. It has no serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance plant, requires minimal or no pruning. Rose of Sharon 'Speciosus', with its elegant, exotic-looking, long-blooming flowers, is a stunning flowering shrub, perfect for cottage, urban, or coastal gardens. Excellent for beds and borders, banks and slopes, wall-side borders and trellises. Great for foundation plantings and suitable for growing in pots and containers.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
