Prunus dulics, or Sweet Almond, is a large, dense, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub or small, rounded tree of upright, spreading habit, twisted, fissured trunk, and oblong, toothed, green leaves, yellow and orange in autumn. Fragrant, 5-petal, light pink to white flowers bloom in spring, before the leaves emerge, and are followed by velvety green fruit containing edible nuts. Prunus dulics is best grown in deep, fertile, loamy, moist, well-drained soil in full sun. It is adaptable to sandy soils, but doesn’t like heavy clays. It thrives in hot, dry locations with low humidity and mild winters. Frost may damage the flower buds. The plant is self-fertile, but two or more cultivars are needed for best cross pollination. Sweet Almond is an attractive ornamental flowering shrub or tree but is mostly grown for its nuts. Almond nuts are used raw or fresh, in cooking, baking, and a variety of products such as candies, oils, etc. Commercially grown.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
