Weigelia ‘Red Prince’ is a compact, bushy, deciduous shrub of rounded habit, with elliptic to oblong, medium-green leaves, and funnel-shaped, bright red flowers blooming in spring, sometimes again in summer and autumn. Attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Weigelia ‘Red Prince’ is a fast-growing and resilient plant that requires very little care. It can adapt to a wide range of soil conditions, even clay and tough urban grounds, but prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun, but can grow well and bloom in partial shade and full shade. It is tolerant of frost, wind, exposure and mild drought. Doesn’t have any serious pest or disease problems. Low maintenance, doesn’t require regular pruning, but can withstand hard pruning. Weigelia ‘Red Prince’ is a lovely, tough shrub with beautiful flowers suitable for cottage, urban and coastal gardens. Perfect for patio pots and containers. Excellent for beds and borders, shrub borders, banks and slopes, and informal, low hedges.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
