£60.00
Unit price perPinus mugo ‘Wintergold’ is a highly distinctive dwarf mountain pine, prized for its compact habit and remarkable seasonal colour. During the spring and summer months, it carries attractive, rich green needles, but as temperatures fall in autumn, the foliage gradually develops a striking golden-yellow colour. This intensifies through winter, providing a welcome splash of colour when many gardens are at their quietest.
It forms a dense, bushy plant with a naturally rounded to spreading habit and a relatively slow growth rate, making it particularly suitable for smaller gardens, rockeries, gravel gardens, borders and containers. Unlike many conifers, ‘Wintergold’ does not require regular pruning to maintain its attractive shape.
Exceptionally hardy, it is well suited to the British climate and can tolerate cold, exposed conditions. It performs best in a sunny position, where good light encourages the strongest winter colouring, and prefers well-drained soil. Once established, it is also tolerant of relatively dry conditions.
With its combination of evergreen foliage, compact growth and spectacular golden winter colour, Pinus mugo ‘Wintergold’ is an excellent low-maintenance choice for year-round interest.
