Bambusa Metake, or Arrow Bamboo, is a modern-looking, vigorous, tough, fast-growing, evergreen bamboo. It has an attractive, dense, upright habit and large foliage. Long, wide, shiny, bright green leaves cover the plant almost entirely. The cane is olive green and turns pale brown as the plant matures. It grows well in any type of soil, even nutritionally poor, as long as it is well-drained, but prefers moist soil. Very adaptable and undemanding, it can grow in full sun, partial shade, or full shade. Resilient to winds and cold temperatures. Very adaptable and tolerant of clipping. Bambusa Metake is notably elegant and decorative. It is impressive as a standalone plant, but it can also be used for hedging and screening. It looks great when planted near or along watercourses. Easy to grow in pots and containers. Suitable for growing in coastal areas.
