Rhododendron Ponticum - 90-110cm, 5lt

Rhododendron Ponticum is a vigorous evergreen shrub with leathery, oblong, dark green leaves and funnel-shaped, lilac-pink to rosy purple flowers, growing in terminal clusters and blooming in spring. Rhododendron Ponticum grows best in acidic, organically rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It prefers dappled shade, but is tolerant of full shade and full sun. Its roots are shallow and poor drainage may lead to a root rot. It is tolerant of frost and air pollution. It is resistant of frost, but needs to be sheltered from strong winds. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require much pruning. Susceptible to many insect and disease problems. Rhododendron Ponticum is a versatile landscape shrub, but it is considered to be very invasive. Therefore, any pruning or waste material must be disposed of responsibly. It is perfect as a specimen or foundation plant in informal, cottage, and urban gardens. Excellent for shade gardens. Great for beds and borders, banks and slopes, or informal hedges.
