Syringa ‘Madame Lemoine’ thrives in average, fertile, humus-rich, alkaline to neutral, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. It needs good air circulation. Tolerant of light shade, but best flowering is achieved in full sun. Doesn’t like hot and humid climates. It prefers cold winter climates because it needs winter chill for the buds to mature. Late frosts may damage the flower buds. Tolerant of urban conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant but can tolerate hard pruning if needed.
