Unit price perElaeagnus ebbingei Standard is an excellent choice for structure, screening and year-round interest.
Grown as a standard tree with a clear stem and rounded head, it provides evergreen height without taking up excessive ground space, making it ideal for smaller gardens, courtyards, driveways or formal planting schemes. Its leathery, dark green leaves have a distinctive silvery underside, catching the light beautifully and adding subtle movement and texture.
In autumn, discreet but highly fragrant creamy-white flowers appear, followed by small orange-red fruits in spring if pollinated. The flowers are particularly valuable for late-season pollinators.
Exceptionally tough and adaptable, Elaeagnus ebbingei tolerates coastal conditions, wind exposure, urban pollution and a wide range of soils, including chalk and clay, provided drainage is reasonable. It responds well to pruning, allowing the head to be shaped and maintained neatly.
Whether used as a focal point, paired either side of an entrance, or incorporated into a structured evergreen scheme, this reliable standard tree offers low maintenance, resilience and all-season presence.
