Pear - Conference (Pyrus communis) is a compact, deciduous, fruiting tree with strong, upright branches and oval, green leaves. Fragrant, small white flowers are blooming in spring and are followed by tasty, juicy, sweet, pale green with brown patches pears in autumn. The fruit is pyriform if cross-pollinated and banana-shaped if self-pollinated. Pear – Beth grows best in neutral, moist, well-drained soil, in full sun, but can adapt to various types of soils, except too dump and rocky. It can withstand frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Late frosts may damage flower buds. Generally, pest-free. Attractive to butterflies and birds. Self-pollinated fruit is seedless. Pyrus Communis ‘Williams’ is a medium sized, deciduous tree with wide crown, simple, ovate, green leaves, lovely, white flowers blooming in April, and light green or yellow pears, ready for harvesting in early summer. The flesh is sweet, juicy, and aromatic. It softens very fast, therefore not suitable for storing and best tasting freshly picked form the tree. Pyrus Communis ‘Williams’ can adapt to a wide range of soils, except waterlogged and rocky, but prefers fertile, moderately moist, neutral, well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun. It is very resistant to frost, but as an early bloomer, late frosts may damage the flower buds. Somewhat resistant to wind. Partially self-fertile, but crops best with a pollinator nearby. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. May require pruning and fruit thinning. Pear 'Williams' is one of the oldest English varieties of dessert pear. It bears heavy crops of tasty, juicy fruit, perfect for eating fresh, great for juicing, drying and cooking.

It thrives in neutral, loamy or sandy, moist, well-drained soils, in full sun. It is resistant to frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh winds. Flower buds may be damaged by late spring frosts. Very well suited for British climate. It is self-fertile but it crops better with another pollinator nearby. No serious disease problems. Requires regular pruning. ‘Concorde’ pears are wonderful all-purpose fruits, great when eaten fresh or cooked. When cooked they keep their shape and flavour even in high heat.
