Unit price perLavandula Hidcote is a dwarf, evergreen shrub with narrow, silvery blue-green foliage and small, tubular, dark purple flowers in dense spikes, with beautiful long-lasting fragrance. Blooms in late spring or early summer, sometimes twice during the season.
Hidcote Lavender can grow in any type of soil, even sandy and rocky, as long as it is well-drained. Does not like wet or waterlogged soils and prefers average, light, dry to medium moisture, slightly alkaline soils, in sunny positions. It doesn’t tolerate high summer humidity and cold winters. It needs to be protected from harsh winds. In very cold climates it has to be planted in containers and brought inside during the winter. Low maintenance plant.
Lavandula Hidcote is a very versatile plant. It is essential for any herb garden, perfect for beds and borders, banks and slopes, low hedges, and path edging. Stunning when planted in masses and very suitable for growing in containers. Often used in dry arrangements.

Unit price perThe Azalea Japonica ‘Toreador’ is a striking, evergreen shrub renowned for its vibrant blooms and compact growth habit. This variety of Japanese azalea is particularly favoured for its abundant, fiery red flowers that create a dazzling display in spring, typically from April to May. The trumpet-shaped blossoms contrast beautifully against the deep green, glossy foliage, making it an eye-catching addition to any garden.
A relatively low-growing plant, ‘Toreador’ reaches an average height of 80-100 cm with a similar spread, forming a neat, bushy shape. Its slow growth rate and dense habit make it ideal for small gardens, borders, or even as a container plant on patios and balconies. It also thrives in woodland gardens, rockeries, and alongside other acid-loving plants like rhododendrons and camellias.
This azalea prefers acidic, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, such as leaf mould or ericaceous compost. It requires a partially shaded to dappled sunlight position, as excessive exposure to full sun can scorch its leaves, while deep shade may reduce flowering. Consistent moisture is essential, particularly during dry spells, but it does not tolerate waterlogged conditions.
Relatively low-maintenance, Azalea Japonica ‘Toreador’ benefits from occasional deadheading to prolong flowering and light pruning after blooming to maintain its shape. It is hardy in the UK, though protection from severe frost is advisable in particularly harsh winters.
This variety is an excellent choice for adding year-round structure to the garden, thanks to its evergreen foliage, and its dazzling red flowers provide an early-season splash of colour. With proper care, Azalea Japonica ‘Toreador’ will reward gardeners with reliable, vivid displays for many years.
Note: The pictured plant is in full flower, the actual plant may be smaller in size due to time of the year.
